Rules & Handbook

  Exam Rules

  1. No mobile phones, IPods or MP3 players should be taken into the exam room. Even if you have one in your pocket and it is off, you still risk disqualification from the exam.
  2. No revision notes should be taken into the exam room. If any are found on you, you risk disqualification from the exam. For further information on exam sanctions please see the Examination Handbook on the JohnCabotAcademy website
  3. Any attempts to communicate with other students will be reported to the exam board.
  4. Please ensure that you bring the correct equipment to all exams, including calculators. All equipment should be in a clear pencil case or clear plastic wallet/bag
  5. All students must be wearing correct Academy uniform
  6. You may take a clear bottle of water into the exam room, but no other drink.
  7. No food or sweets can be taken into the exam room
  8. If the fire alarm sounds during the exam you must remain silent, leave your exam paper on your desk and leave the room by the nearest fire exit. Whilst you are outside the exam room you must not speak to any other students. If you do speak to other students you may well lose marks on the paper you are sitting.
  9. If you think you are going to be late for an exam you must phone up the Academy and let us know that you are on your way and the time you hope to arrive. You may still be able to sit the exam, even if you do arrive late.
  10. If you are unwell and miss an exam please ensure that you phone the Academy and let us know. You must then get a note from your doctor which should be passed on to the Exams Officer (Mrs Penfold). Should you forget to turn up to an exam you will be charged for the cost of entry.
